The First Post

February 18th, 2024 - Meta

This is a blog post. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must write my blog true.

^ honesty hour: I didn’t know how else to start up my blog, so here’s a badly paraphrased quote from Full Metal Jacket. The funny things is, I started writing it, but Co-Pilot finished it for me. Proof how original I am I suppose.

Anywhoo. What can you expect to find in this here blog? Well, I’m aiming to keep this fairly technical (aside from this one obviously). I might stray a little bit into more meta stuff about the software industry as a whole, but in general you can expect:

  • Info and musing on how to write code, specifically how more-than-one-person can work together to produce great working software.
  • Tips, tricks and hopefully some useful notes on software gotchas that I come across in my day-to-day. I’m generally working in a backend/infra space, and I tend to think a fair bit about how that kind of stuff should be put together. Sometimes I even think up good ways to do it!
  • Full on (and probably ranty) opinion about what constitutes good software, what doesn’t, and what makes me want to rage rm -rf someone’s codebase.

Watch this space, more words coming soon.
